The Unity Band's debut album 'Fabric' pays homage to the cultural diversity of South Africa and the various musical influences that these young musicians have encountered throughout their musical upbringings. The band’s sound has been described as a joyful celebration and reflection on an evergrowing continent. Expect to be taken on a scenic journey as the music weaves a tapestry of what was, is and could be.

This group of young talented musicians discovered their musical bond in 2017 while jamming as a collective for the first time at the University of Cape Town. They have gone on to perform at various sold-out venues throughout South Africa and have created a rich and diverse soundtrack for the modern music lover.

The Unity Band is comprised of current and past students from the South African College of Music. They are all in their own right phenomenal performers doing great things spanning the globe. The band members include:

Lumanyano 'Unity' Mzi - drumkit and vocals
Lilavan Gangen - percussion
Stephen de Souza - upright and electric basses
Lonwabo 'Diba' Mafani - piano and keyboards
Dylan Fine - guitar
Ofentse Moshwetsi - alto saxophone
Marco Maritz - trumpet and flugelhorn
Thandeka Dladla - vocals
Khanyiso Mabodla - spoken word (Track 7)

Recorded at the renowned Milestone Studios, Cape Town, South Africa in 2018.
